SOUTH CURL CURL BOARDWALK

COASTAL BOARDWALK CONSTRUCTION
The existing access path at South Curl Curl was steep, uneven and constantly being patched, making it difficult to use and expensive to maintain in a harsh coastal environment. The upgrade replaced this with a new continuous boardwalk and pathway system, linking the Swim Club, carpark and Fishermans Walk.
The project included construction of a new FRP-decked boardwalk, new concrete pathways, and a series of ramps and stairs designed to manage the site’s multiple level changes. Sandstone retaining walls were installed to stabilise the surrounding ground, along with upgraded drainage and subgrade works to prevent water and sand movement from undermining the finished surfaces.
All works were carried out in an exposed beachfront location with constant public use, limited access and changing ground conditions. The finished boardwalk now provides a solid, low-maintenance access route that handles heavy foot traffic, salt exposure and weather.
